Tricia Rivas, Trixies Salon
Fall is in Des Moines, and it’s all just a bunch of hocus pocus.
I’m watching the iconic Hocus Pocus movie as I write this. Lol!Hocus Pocus is one of my all time favorite Halloween movies. Watch it here!I actually love EVERYTHING about this time of year!! Especially the leaves changing into the beautiful golds, reds, oranges and browns. This time of year gets me so excited to play with my guests’ hair and bring those fall colors to life. I also become obsessed with Halloween nail decor, and it’s only at this time of year you’ll see me with pumpkins, witches, ghost and goblin designs. Check out a couple of my favorite ideas I love on Pinterest.

You Can’t Beat the Smell of Fall in Iowa
I should also say I have a small obsession with fall candles. The smell of pumpkin spice candles in the air makes me just want to curl up on the couch with a cozy blanket and watch more Halloween movies. Some of my favorite candles come from Dirt Road Candle. Here’s theirEtsy linkand they’re local!! Don’t even get me started on food!!! Soups, casseroles and cinnamon rolls are just some starters for me. The family begs me to make my taco soup this time of year.
Pumpkin Patches Tricia Loves in Central Iowa
We can’t skip the pumpkin patches!!! My goal before I leave this earth is to go to as many different pumpkin patches as I can with the family.Howells Pumpkin Patchis a regular of ours. It’s nestled out in the rolling hills over by Cumming, Iowa. Our favorite activity is to take the tractor ride out to the pumpkin fields and pick out our own pumpkins. Then there’s the mums!! Omg!!! They’re enormous and last forever!! Be sure to grab lunch while you’re out there also, it’s delicious.
Oh goodness, then the Halloween parties. For 10+ years my girlfriends and I used to put on a Halloween costume party. Thank goodness there wasn’t social media at that time. Lol!! Now we do Halloween parties with our kiddos out at the campground. Our kids love Halloween as much as we do.
