Head lice!!!

Now that I have your attention and all of a sudden your scalp is itching. ((LOL)) Let’s talk about the louse, aka lice.

Who remembers growing up and we would have to have our heads checked by the teachers or school nurse because there was an outbreak of head lice?! I remember always thinking "please baby Jesus, don’t let me have it." Back then we only thought the kids with bad hygiene would get lice... Well, as we all know, that is not true at all!! Lice can be spread from sharing brushes, combs, hats, coats, etc. I should also mention adults can get it.

We get calls a couple times of year from parents in a complete panic because they think their children have lice. I always laugh, because when they call, they get really quiet on the phone like someone else might hear them and they're saying a dirty four letter word. We always put them at ease and let them know that as hairstylists we see if often and we’re here to help! We even offer to the parents to have them go buy the treatment kit from Walgreens and we will do it for them at the salon. Bless their hearts, they always bring the products in all inconspicuously, lol. We know that it can be embarrassing, but again, to us as stylists, it's sincerely no big deal and please don’t be embarrassed by it!

And if I’m being honest, my daughter Marlee had it and must have had it for a few days, because the eggs had hatched and they were live little critters!! Not my parent of the year moment, but then again, I have a few of those moments a year! So, if you have a run in with the nasty little critters, just remember, it’s not the end of the world and you can give Trixies a call and we can talk you off the ledge to walk you through how to get rid of it.
